Czech chess grandmaster David Navara will take part in the 10th Katowice Chess Festival!

David Navara, born on 27 March 1985 in Prague, is one of the most outstanding chess players in Czech history. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2002, in 2006 he became the first Czech chess player to surpass the level of 2700 ranking points, and in 2015 he reached the highest career ELO ranking of 2751 points.

Navara’s achievements include many prestigious successes, such as:
2014 and 2022 European Rapid Chess Championships.
12 Czech classic chess champion titles
9 Czech championship titles in rapid chess
3-time European team championship medallist (silver medal in 2001 in the individual classification)

In 2011 he won (together with Luke McShane) the Tata Steel Chess-B tournament in Wijk aan Zee. Currently, David Navara represents the colours of the Hetman Katowice Chess Club.

Navara is known for his versatile style of play and his ability to make quick decisions. David Navara’s participation in the 10th Katowice Chess Festival will be a big event for Polish chess fans. Navara is one of the best chess players in the world and his presence in Katowice will certainly attract many fans of the game.

The festival will be held at the Katowice Congress Centre. The event’s programme will include chess tournaments for people of all ages and skill levels, as well as demonstrations and workshops for children and young people.
